Our Story:
E1, formerly known as EstimateOne, started its journey in 2008 in Melbourne, Victoria, with a simple goal: to make commercial construction estimating less boring.
The idea was sparked by Michael Ashcroft, then a cadet estimator, who spent weeks manually chasing hundreds of subcontractor quotes. Realising the inefficiency, Michael saw a better way: “We should just do this on the internet.”
Michael teamed up with Andrew Ritchie as joint founders. Self-funded from the start, they developed a digital tendering platform. This platform allowed construction firms to manage project documents and procure services online, saving significant time and money.

We are the market leaders in Australia and NZ and have expanded our team into the UK.
Our growth accelerated in 2022 after securing investment from Potentia Capital and Saniel Ventures. This backing enabled us to fast-track delivery of our Procurement Platform and expand across the UK.
Our platform has achieved massive scale: In the last year, more than 94,000 organisations have used E1 to tender over 14,000 projects worth a total of $137 billion!
Our primary focus remains on constantly improving our platform and developing new features to continue helping our customers more.

We deeply understand the daily struggles and complex issues faced by estimators, subcontractors, and suppliers. With over 900 builders across Australia, and a network of thousands subcontractors and suppliers, we’ve built a platform based on real industry experience.
