Our Story
Our Story
It’s been over a decade now since E1 first stepped out into the world and said “You know what? We’re going to change things up a bit”. A lot’s happened since – and most of it has been really exciting.
Put simply, we’re a SaaS company headquartered in Richmond, Melbourne, whose ambition is to become the industry standard procurement platform in the commercial construction industry.
In the last year more than 94,000 organisations have used our platform to tender over 14,000 projects worth a total of $137 billion! We’re the market leaders in Australia & NZ, and we have grown our team into the UK, so that we can extend our product offering and enter new international markets.
We secured investment from Potentia Capital and Saniel Ventures in 2022, which enabled us to accelerate delivery of our Procurement Platform and entry into new markets. We’ve grown our team and our product to span the UK, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
So you’ve read about who we are and what we do. But what about being part of our team? What’s it like to work at E1
We're the next step in your career
Why Work at E1
you get leave
Entrepreneurial Leave
Plenty of us have our own side hustles (or plans to start them). So when you’re part of the team, you can expect your entrepreneurial ideas to really come to life with 5 paid days per year to work on them.
Flexible Working
We want work to be a thing that you do, not a place that you go. We offer a flexible environment where you can work from the place you’re most productive in your role. We’ll give you a WFH allowance each year to set up a working environment that works best for you. We’re also flexible about hours. Most roles have the ability to be part time – just ask!
Professional Development Budget
We’ll fund your professional development up to $5,000 a year. Think training, conferences, certifications, lunches with external mentors and so on.
WFH Budget
We want to provide you with the best equipment you need to perform your role. So who better to understand exactly what you need and like than YOU! Every year, you’ll receive a $500 allowance to put towards your home office set up to create the best and most personalised workspace for you.
Volunteer Leave
E1 is committed to community engagement that is meaningful, purposeful and helps those in need. When you’re part of the team you get 1 day to volunteer for any charitable or NFP organisation of your choice. Or two half days, it’s up to you.
Paid Parental Leave
We’re committed to supporting people during arguably their most important role – parenting! In addition to the Government’s Paid Parental Leave, EstimateOne offers the primary carer 16 weeks of leave at full pay, with the option to take it at half pay over 32 weeks and our secondary carers get 6 weeks’ leave at full pay. We have also partnered with CircleIn to help guide your new family through every stage of your parenting or caregiving journey.
Wellbeing Support
We understand the importance of mental health, so E1 will cover the cost of 3 confidential therapy sessions per year with a therapist of your choice, via our platform Talked which has access to over 100 licensed therapists across Australia
Workplace Giving Program
We’re committed to sharing the financial windfalls of our success with worthy causes. We match employee donations at a ratio of 2:1. That means every $1 you put toward a cause you’re passionate about, we’ll donate $2.
Team Activities
Team work really does make the dream work! Twice a quarter, we down tools and get together for a team activity. These have included things like escape rooms, games afternoons, cooking classes, trivia, etc…
Growth Frameworks
Our Growth Frameworks outline the skills needed for our roles, and how to grow to the next role at E1. They give team members an understanding of how they can grow their skills and develop their careers.
What Is It Like to Be Part of the Team?
Our Values
We’re driven by our values. Our values aren’t posters on the wall – they’re ideas that we all believe in and refer to daily, as core guiding principles of our individual and collective behaviour. They guide our recruitment, our product design, our pay rises, our strategy… every decision we make.
Enabled Expertise – It’s all about recognising, respecting and embracing the things each of us are great at. Taking ownership in our roles and of our development. Spotting opportunities and problems across the business (and acting on them). And creating an environment where everyone can succeed.
Authentic Ambition – It’s about wanting to win – fairly. It’s about bringing value to our team, our industry and our shareholders in equal measure. It’s about creating value for the long-term benefit, not the short- term buzz.
Cranes before Code – It means communicating early, regularly and concisely. It means being straight shooters with our colleagues and customers. It’s seeing honesty as a platform for major improvements. And it’s always believing in the positive intent of others – even when they’re keeping it really, really real.
Forthright & Frank – It means chasing great outcomes over great processes. It’s seeking to really, truly understand our customers. And getting a rock-solid grip on the problem before we start brainstorming ways to solve it.

We’ve had lots of input from the team and have several great initiatives for us to work across in 2024.
We’re working towards collating more data in 2024 & 2025 that we can compare to 2023, which we intend to share transparently along with the initiatives we’ve been working on!
Part of DEIB is sharing our progress and commitment to closing the Gender Pay Gap, after reporting to the WGEA for the first time in 2023. Below is a statement with the results of our data and where we’re headed, from here! WGEA GPG Statement
